The 1984 'Big Banger' Holden Commodore VK is one of the truly legendary cars to have won the famous race at Bathurst. This car was a head-turner, purpose built to farewell the local Group C regulations in style, ahead of the introduction of more international flavored cars the following year. With wide racing tyres, flared guards and a striking 'day glo' colour scheme, the car was a real head-turner from the day it was revealed.
In the hands of Brock and co-driver Larry Perkins, this car was unstoppable and claimed the duo's third Bathurst 1000 win in a row, leading all but 19 of the 163 laps in a flawless demonstration of the team's professionalism. To cap things off the team's second car, driven by John Harvey and David Parsons, finished runner-up, crossing the line in a form finish with the winning car creating a unique moment in Holden racing history.
