In 1989, the PSA group launched two radically different "top-of-the-range" saloons: a rather classic car, the Peugeot 605, and a car with a surprising design, the Citroën XM. This unique look is the result of the work of the Italian company Carrozzeria Bertone, which has already produced the Lancia Stratos, Lamborghini Miura and the BX for Citroën. In 1989 the XM won the "Most Beautiful Car of the Year" award. This new Citroën saloon was equipped with a sports version. It was offered with several engines, including a generous 24-valve V6 developing 200 hp. To attract as many customers as possible, Citroën launched a station wagon version of this powerful Citroën XM 3.0 V6 24V in 1991!
